The Sacrifice of Praise
Is our’s accepted?
By DR
Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice
of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our
lips giving thanks to his name. (KJV)
Heb 13:15 Through Him then, let
us continually offer up a slaughter offering of praise to Elohim, that
is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His
Name. (The Scriptures)
Hos 14:2 Take words with
you, and return to YHVH. Say to
Him, “Take away all crookedness, and accept what is good, and we render the bulls of our lips1. Footnote: 1Heb. 13:15 - bulls, referring to offerings.
- Our words to our Elohim can
be viewed as a type of sacrifice. A
sacrifice is something offered or given to show that Yah is our Elohim and
all things are given by Him. Praise
in Hebrew is to show forth and “boast” in our Elohim. The Brown Driver Briggs (BDB) Definition
is below:

Psa 44:8 In Elohim we shall boast all day long, And praise
Your Name forever. Selah.
1Ch 16:35 And say, “Save us, O
Elohim of our deliverance; And gather us together, And deliver us from the
gentiles, To give thanks to Your set-apart Name, And boast
in Your praise.”
1Co 1:31 that, as it has been
written, “He who boasts, let him boast in יהוה.”
- In the greek strongs defines
“Praise” this way:
G1391
δόξα
doxa
dox'-ah
From the base of G1380; glory
(as very apparent), in a wide application (literally or figuratively, objectively
or subjectively): - dignity, glory (-ious), honour, praise, worship.
- So
praise is honoring and worshipping.
Here is some examples of how to praise Yah:
Psa 9:1 I praise You, O YHVH, with all my heart; I
declare all Your wonders.
Psa 9:11 Sing praises to YHVH, who dwells in Tsiyon!
Declare His deeds among the peoples.
Psa 22:23 You who fear YHVH, praise Him! All you seed of
Yaʽaqoḇ, esteem Him, And fear Him, all you seed of Yisra’ĕl!
Psa 30:4 Sing praise to YHVH, You kind ones of His, And
give thanks at the remembrance of His Set-apartness.
Psa 47:6 Sing praises to
Elohim, sing praises! Sing praises to our Sovereign, sing praises!
Psa 47:7 For Elohim is
Sovereign of all the earth; Sing praises with understanding.
Isa 42:10 Sing to YHVH a new song; His praise from the ends of the earth,
you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you coastlands and you
inhabitants of them!
- Song is a way to praise. We often hear the term “Praise and
Worship” when congregations sing songs to Elohim. So if we can all agree that praise is a
type of sacrifice and is offered to honor and boast in our King then lets
delve further into what type of praise should be offered:
Deu 17:1 “Do not slaughter to YHVH your Elohim a bull or sheep
which has any blemish, any evil matter,
for that is an abomination to YHVH your Elohim.
- A blemish is any spot or mark. A sacrifice has to be perfect. If we relate this to praise, our praise
has to also be without spot or blemish.
What could possibly be a blemish in how we worship today? We should really be careful in this so
we are not offering something evil in Yah’s eyes and deserving of a curse.
- I
propose that relics of sun worship found in Christianity would definitely
qualify as a blemish. Our Elohim
has this to say:
- Isa 42:8 “I am YHVH, that is My Name, and
My esteem I do not give to another, nor My praise to idols.
- Yahweh will not share his praise with false
elohim. When I listen to
“Christian” or “messianic” music, I often hear these blemishes in them. Here is a list of often used sun
worship words:
God (gad, god, gud)– other gods,
idols, names of them and/or title
Lord - Larth, Loride and Lordo –
possibly came from these pagan gods
Glory – shining radiance –
associated with sun worship
Divine - bright, shine - associated with sun worship
Bible – possibly from a female
deity BYBLIS, also called BYBLE, also called BIBLIS
Holy – in most languages referring
to the divine sun
-
in greek – heilei – the sun’s ray
Sacred – from
pagan god sacra – sun god
Amen – Egyptian sun deity amen-ra
Church – from pagan godess circe –
associated with sun deity
- Many people don’t have a problem using these
words. Most have had them ingrained
in them all their life, especially “in the church”. Most refer to the Almighty One as “THE
LORD” at every turn. Was this title
given to Yahweh by himself or by man?
Who should we follow? What
saith Elohim?:
Exo 23:13 “And in all that I
have said to you take heed. And make no mention
of the name of other mighty ones, let it not be heard from your mouth.
Jos 23:7 so as not to
go in among these nations, these who remain among you. And make no mention of the
name of their mighty ones, a nor swear by
them, nor serve them nor bow down to them.
Mal 1:14 “But cursed be the
deceiver who has a male in his flock, and makes a vow, but is slaughtering to YHVH what is blemished. For I am a great Sovereign,” said YHVH of hosts,
“and My Name is feared among nations.
Zec 13:2 “And it shall be in
that day,” declares YHVH of
hosts, “that I cut off the names of the idols from the earth,
and they shall be remembered no more, and I shall also remove the prophets and
the unclean spirit from the earth
Jer 23:27 who try to make My
people forget My Name by their dreams which everyone relates to his neighbour,
as their fathers forgot My Name for Baʽal.
- Now
think this through a bit. How many
people today go around saying “Ba’al” or worship him by this name? It seems virtually absent from
everything I’ve seen. What if the
great deceiver has hidden this name (a tribute to himself) so as to
confuse people and garner worship for himself when men think they praise
Yahweh.
Hos 2:16 “And it shall be,
in that day,” declares YHVH, “that
you call Me ‘My Husband,’ (Ishi) and no longer call Me ‘My Baʽal.’
(Baali)
Hos 2:17 “And I shall remove
the names of the Baʽals from her mouth, and they shall no more be
remembered by their name.
- Ok,
here’s a telling passage and requires a bit of thought if what it’s saying
is what I’m trying to get at. Lets
first define the word Baal:
BDB Definition:
Baal = “lord”
- Baal
has 2 definitions. One means “Owner
or Husband”, the other means a “Phoenician or Cannonite Deity”.
- It is
true that Yah himself says he was a “baal” or husband to Israel,
but in the verses above, what is He saying?
- Reading
it again with these definitions we can read it like this: “And it shall be, in that day,”
declares YHVH,
“that you call Me ‘My Husband,’ (Ishi) and no longer call Me ‘My
Husband.’ (baali)
- Now that doesn’t quite make sense does
it? Could He be saying that we
will call him “My Husband” and no longer call him “The LORD”? Some will say the second instance would
mean “master” which is indeed possible, but I would think your husband
would also be qualified as a “master”.
This is food for thought at least.
BDB Definition:
Baali = “my lord”
1) a
deity in the northern kingdom, variation of the name ‘Baal’
- Here
is an example of the way I think when I hear certain words in music:
- “Holy,
Holy, Holy, is the Lord Almighty” is one phrase out of a song (also in
certain scripture translations).
- My
definition I hear in my head is:
“Ray of the Sun, Ray of the Sun, Ray of the Sun, is the Ba’al (sun
god) almighty”
- I
would think that my translation would not just be a spot or blemish,
but an outright slap in the face to the true Elohim. Doesn’t he say such a sacrifice is an
abomination? I really think us
“messianics” need to think this through a bit deeper and leave the sun
worship in the past altogether and not just the pagan holidays and
Sun-day worship.
- I
do concede our English language is riddled with pagan words and it’s
almost impossible to communicate if we can’t use the names of the days
of the week for example. My goal
here isn’t to get you to stop that per say, but to stop blemished
praise unto Yahweh. It’s not our
directive to follow what is in our heart, but what is in His word. His word says not to do such things
in my opinion.
- Another
problem that arises is that most all “worship” music has these sun worship
elements in them. People will say,
“Well, we’ll have nothing to sing, so we have to sing these songs since
there’s nothing else”. Again, I
must ask, “What says Yahweh?”:
- 1Sa 15:22 Then Shemu’ĕl said,
“Does YHVH
delight in burnt offerings and slaughterings, as in obeying the voice of YHVH?
Look, to obey is better than an offering,
to heed is better than the fat of rams.
- According
to this we should not offer a sacrifice if it is not in accordance to
His word. We do not want to bring
a curse on ourselves for doing so.
- There
are songs out there that take these pagan elements out, but they seem to
be far and few between. I’m still
searching for more of them because I personally cannot sing songs to my
Elohim that contain these elements anymore. (If you find some, let me
know as I’m always looking for more)
- Praise
and Worship are not only constrained to music but can be manifest in
different ways. This is a matter I
think we need to search and pray about.
I think it comes down to not what we think, but what does HE
think….
- Yeshua
is our High Priest and burns the insense (our prayers) on the golden
alter. Would our perfect priest
offer profane fire? Did he want us
to come totally out of Egypt
or bring part of the past worship system along with us (golden
calf)? Was this acceptable in
Yah’s eyes the first go around?
Rom 15:11 And again, “Praise YHVH, all you gentiles! Praise
Him, all you peoples!”
Gal 1:5 to whom be the
praise forever and ever. Amĕn.
